TAOS, NM: Tasa Graphic Arts, Inc., publisher and producer of The Theory of Plate Tectonics CD-ROM, is honored to receive a Distinguished Achievement Award for Excellence in Educational Publishing from the Association for Educational Publishers (AEP). The program won the Educational Science Software award in the Technology category.

The Theory of Plate Tectonics, Version 2.0.1 is an educational software program that can be used at two levels, Intermediate and Advanced. Written by Ed Tarbuck and Fred Lutgens, the program explores how Earth's lithospheric plates change through time. The CD-ROM is fully narrated and includes detailed animations that are easily manipulated by the user. This learning tool is appropriate for self-directed study by students and for classroom demonstrations by instructors, and students' progress can be tracked by using the scored review activities. At both levels, you can build the supercontinent of Pangaea, move the continents through specific events that happened in different locations on the globe, and plot data to construct a profile of the ocean floor, to name just a few of the interactive investigations.

Tasa Graphic Arts, Inc. produces interactive, educational CD-ROMs emphasizing visual-aided learning, helping students grasp difficult concepts and encouraging them to learn even more about Earth science by making it fun to test their knowledge. In addition to plate tectonics, Tasa Graphic Arts, Inc. has published CD-ROMs covering rocks and minerals, planetary geology, the processes that shape Earth's surface, and more. Our programs align with National Science Education Standards. Our web address is: www.TasaGraphicArts.com.

The winners of the 41st annual AEP awards, announced June 8 & 9, 2004, are cited for original and dynamic programs that teachers can use increase learning at school and at home.
