In a network environment, why can't more than one user access the program?

When a Tasa program is copied to a network server, ONLY ONE USER can have WRITE access to the program. All users should have READ-ONLY access to the program (the folder that contains the files and all of its contents). For example, you might have more than one "administrator" trying to access the program at the same time. In that case, only one of the users will be allowed to run the program.

For the products Rocks & Minerals 1.0 and Explore the Planets 1.0, an upgrade is also REQUIRED to solve this problem. Please upgrade Rocks & Minerals and Explore the Planets to the latest versions.

Why doesn't the CD-ROM work when my disk is write protected?

The best solution to this problem is to upgrade to the latest version of the program that you currently have. If you choose not to upgrade, try the following procedures:

When older versions of Tasa programs start, they first attempt to create temporary files in a Windows system folder for the duration of the program's execution. For this to work, the user needs write access to that folder.

If you DO NOT wish to grant write access to the system folders, follow these steps:

1) with the security software disabled (or as the Administrator), launch the Tasa program,

2) Alt-TAB to the Windows directory

3) look for 2 files called "XOBGLU16.DLL" and "XOBGLU32.DLL" (the location may be the TEMP folder, or the WinNT folder, but the actual location will be dependent upon your configuration and operating version).

4) copy (don't move) these files to another temporary directory,

5) Alt-TAB back to the Tasa program and QUIT that program,

6) move the temporary files (copied in step 4 above) to the Windows directory where you first found them.

By placing these files in the temporary directory, the Tasa program will not try to copy them again.
