Virtual Memory problem on XP and other Windows
systems This happens only on computers with a gigabyte
of memory or more. Here is the message that the computer user gets:
“This program requires at least 3 Mb of virtual memory.” |
This problem only occurs with old versions of our programs.
If you upgrade
to the latest version, this problem won't occur.
or
call us at (800) 293-2725 to find out what upgrades we have available.
We'll need to know the name of the program that you have and the version
number. |
There
are two other possible solutions:
1st solution:
Find where in the control panel to access Virtual
Memory (this is different for different systems).
On Windows
XP:
- Open My Computer and access your Control
Panel.
- Open System and select the Advanced tab.
- Under Performance select Settings.
- Select
the Advanced tab.
- Under Virtual Memory click
the Change button.
- Only for
Win XP
- Select No Paging, then click Set.
- Click OK for
all settings.
- Restart your
computer.
- For other Win systems
- Select Let
Windows manage My Virtual Memory.
- Restart your
computer.
2nd solution:
Find where in control panel to access Virtual
Memory (this
is different for different systems).
On Windows XP:
- Open My Computer and access
your Control Panel.
- Open System and
select the Advanced tab.
- Under Performance select Settings.
- Select
the Advanced tab.
- Under Virtual Memory click
the Change button.
- Select Custom Size and
enter a number less than or equal to 100 in both boxes.
- Click Set and
then click OK for all settings.
- Restart.
This will adjust your paging file.
